High Point Market 2019 Recap
Last weekend I returned from a fantastic market experience in Highpoint. I landed Friday evening and had dinner at a historic restaurant called the Old Salem Tavern with a group of designers. I had the pleasure of staying once again with my dear friend and colleague, Susan Carson, at her beautiful early 1900’s home in Winston-Salem.
Out bright and early on Saturday morning, I joined Susan and her team as we attacked the area at Hamilton. We visited so many fab showrooms including Phillip Selva and ST2, lines I love! I then discovered Wildwood and their custom painted wood furniture line. The pieces are really transitional and you can use any Benjamin Moore color you like or a combination!
Lunch and a tour of the brand new and exquisite Caracole building was a highlight of the day and then I dashed up the street for my podcast/panel with Nick May and Design Manager. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and have a quick make-up refresh at the Beauty Bar! A glass of champagne and then back to the showrooms. Nourison had some lovely new designs and I loved Bradley’s small and sleek dining slipper chairs. We then headed back to Winston-Salem for dinner with colleagues.
Sunday was super productive. We all needed to source artwork for various projects and had a wonderful time at Wendover and Leftbank but the true find was CHC at Steele, which has amazing original art in their gallery and also showcased at a variety of showrooms. Up a few flights to their other showroom specializing in giclees and wallcovering which can be permanent or removable – made from the artwork. I LOVE this building, having toured Chaddock and Alfonso Marina and ending the day at Century to congratulate my colleagues Carrier & Co, also FIT alum, on their new collection!
We then were joined for dinner by two of my students from last Spring and Susan’s interns and staff. It was a wonderful way to end my market experience.
Already looking forward to Fall Market! See you there.
